Abstract

Within the framework of the projects, KIKA-IPK and ProKI Berlin, that are funded by the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, significant ad-vances have been achieved in integrating artificial intelligence into manufacturing processes. These projects aimed to enhance the performance and functionality of production machinery by leveraging AI technologies. In the KIKA-IPK project, AI-assisted systems were developed for real-time process control in different manufacturing scenarios, including Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) and Drop on Demand (DoD) for personalized medication production. ProKI Ber-lin focused on raising awareness and supporting small and medium-sized enter-prises in adopting AI solutions across various production processes, while focus-ing on the milling process. The projects yielded innovative methods that not only demonstrate considerable economic and scientific potential but also contribute to building digital competencies. Moreover, the integration of these practical applica-tions into the curriculum at TU Berlin has fostered a seamless transfer of knowledge between research, industry, and education. These outcomes lay the groundwork for further research, development, and industrial implementation of AI-based methods in manufacturing.
